Trauma Care Team is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is part of how we deliver care. We treat our website the same way we treat our clinics: it should work for the person who needs it.

The standard we work to

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium and is the standard most commonly referenced in the United States for website accessibility, including in connection with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Conformance status

We describe this website as partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, and some parts may not yet. We are working to identify and correct those areas.

We state this plainly rather than claim complete conformance. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one time project, and a website changes every time content is added.

What we do

  • We build on an actively maintained website platform that receives regular accessibility and security updates.
  • We use semantic page structure, including headings, lists, and landmark regions, so screen readers can move through content in a logical order.
  • We aim for text and background combinations that meet the WCAG AA contrast minimums of 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text and interface controls.
  • We aim to give every meaningful image descriptive alternative text.
  • We build pages to work at phone widths without horizontal scrolling, and to stay usable when text is enlarged.
  • We keep interactive elements, including links, buttons, and form fields, reachable and operable by keyboard.
  • We label form fields so assistive technology can announce what each field is for.
  • We check accessibility when we add or change content, and we retest after significant updates.

The accessibility toolbar on this site

This website offers an accessibility toolbar that lets you adjust display settings such as text size and contrast from within the page.

We want to be clear about what that toolbar is. It is a convenience for visitors who prefer those adjustments. It is not a substitute for building the site correctly, and we do not rely on it to meet our obligations. The pages underneath are built to work on their own, including for visitors using their own screen reader, screen magnifier, or browser settings.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. We are aware of the following and are working on them:

  • Alternative text. Some images do not yet carry descriptive alternative text. We are working through the site to complete this.
  • Documents. Some downloadable documents, such as intake forms, may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need a document in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide it.
  • Third party content. Some embedded content, such as maps and video players, comes from outside services whose accessibility we do not control. Where we can, we choose vendors with accessibility support and make the same information available elsewhere on the site in an accessible form.
  • Older content. Content published earlier may not meet our current standards. We correct it as we find it.

If something on this site does not work for you

If any part of this website keeps you from getting the information or the care you need, tell us. We will help you directly, and we will fix the underlying problem.

It helps if you can tell us the address of the page, what you were trying to do, what went wrong, and which browser or assistive technology you were using. That detail lets us reproduce the problem and correct it.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within three business days. If you cannot access information or a service on this website, we will provide that information or service to you by phone, by email, or in person at one of our locations, at no additional cost to you.
